And The Guest Author Is . . .

The first person who suggested I look at Janine's work was Shades' own George Geder. He was extremely complementary of her restoration work. So I took his advice and visited her blog. I was equally impressed.

Then I received a note from someone on Twitter who said I should contact Janine as she and I had so much in common. We bumped into each other in the Twitter world and struck up an "old photo" conversation. Then I popped the question, "Do you collect old photos and would you do a Friday From The Collectors article."

I loved her answer. "The only photos I collect are damaged ones. I know if I can just get a hold of them, they can have a new life, the people, in a sense, won't be forgotten." That's what we're all about here on Shades, so we're very pleased Janine agreed to be the April 10 Friday From The Collectors guest author.

Janine Smith, is a professional genealogist and award winning photo restoration artist, with over 15 years experience in analysis and family history research and over 30 years experience as a portrait artist. She's co-owner, with her mother, Caroline, also a genealogist, of Landailyn Research and Restoration in Fort Worth, Texas.

Janine is the 2008 winner of the Photoshop User Award for Photo Restoration, an International competition with over 700 entrants, and is proud to be numbered among the premiere photo restoration artists.

This will be a Friday not to miss!
