The GeneaBlog Awards 2009

Last year Tamura Jones of Modern Software Experience created the GeneaBlog Awards.

This year, Shades is honored to have won the award for Best Looking Magazine. This description accompanied the award:

Shades of the Departed is a blog about photographs, again by photofootnoteMaven, about scanning photographs and analyzing them. It features a Photo of the Week, it has several unique weekly features and spawned the Smile for the Camera blog and carnival. As if all that was not enough, November saw the first issue of the Shades of the Departed Magazine, which looks better than any other genealogy related magazine I've seen. You can view the magazine on Issuu, complete with silly page-turning effect, or download it in PDF format. Emphasis added.

Shades The Magazine is a group effort by a dedicated core of writers. So on behalf of everyone involved in Shades, thank you, Tamura, for this honor and the high praise!

And Tamara, because you get my sense of humor, I've added a flipping miniature magazine just for you.

The excellent writers of Shades write for their own blogs as well. If you enjoy their work, please take a moment to say so and support what they do.
